Biography

At one point, eating was mainly a communal act that typically took place around a big table with a home-cooked meal, friends and family. Now, because of our ever increasing hectic schedules and fast paced lifestyles, eating is something that most of us do alone.

Many of us eat with strangers every day without ever saying a word to them. And why would we? It’s our personal time, a time to reflect, a time to decompress from an annoying work day, a time to be alone.

A few years ago, when I found myself eating in public around other strangers, I would strike up a conversation. It was usually nothing more than talk of the weather or gossip, but it was something that connected me to each stranger. Our solitary meal became something else; a conversation, a shared moment, and sometimes, the beginning of a new friendship.
This spontaneous dialogue opened doors I normally wouldn't have opened and suddenly I saw the fabric of my days change in many serendipitous ways. It's pretty inspiring talking to people you might not normally talk to.

Eating with strangers is a project/lifestyle that I began to conceptualize a while ago.
Basically, I am interested in breaking the taboos of eating with strangers, taking food from strangers, and talking to strangers.
This blog is a place where I have expressed my experiences with food, eating, and strangers.

Bon appetite!
